Frequently asked questions
What is NestEgg?
NestEgg is the household’s pension plan and drawdown: the app gathers pensions, savings and investments in one place and calculates when you can stop working and what you can spend per month — after Danish tax.
Is NestEgg free?
Yes. NestEgg is free to use.
Where do the numbers come from?
The pensions come from your own PensionsInfo reports (PDFs from pensionsinfo.dk), which you download with MitID and drop into the app. Prices, fundamentals and exchange rates come from public market data sources.
Do you store my PensionsInfo report?
No. The report is only read to create the pensions — the PDF file itself is not stored.
Is my data private?
NestEgg is self-hosted and private by design: wealth data never leaves the house, and nothing is shared or sold. Only market data comes in from outside. The public pages set no cookies; analytics loads only after sign-in.
Which pension types are supported?
Ratepension (instalment pension), livrente (life annuity), aldersopsparing (age savings), kapitalpension, ATP and the state pension — each under its own payout and tax rules.
Does the app calculate real Danish tax?
Yes — the 2026 rules all the way: PAL tax, the aktiesparekonto’s accrual tax, the share and capital income brackets, municipal and church tax, allowances, middle and top brackets, and the state pension taper. Deliberate simplifications are documented as simplifications.
Can a household have two people?
Yes — the household is the unit. Two people with their own tax, their own pension ages and their own drawdown start, gathered in one shared overview. The partner’s PensionsInfo report is imported with the partner’s birth date.
What is drawdown (nedsparing)?
Drawdown is saving in reverse: the years when wealth and pensions pay for life. A drawdown plan sequences the payouts and shows what can be spent per month after tax — and how long it lasts.
Is NestEgg financial advice?
No. NestEgg is decision support: the app shows consequences under the actual rules, but makes no choices for you and recommends no products. Seek advice where you need it.
